Guests of the Football World Cup Games Visited “Cossack Village” in Sholokhov-Centre in Rostov

During the Football World Cup Games in Rostov-on-Don, Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov welcomes the residents and guests to take part in the cultural educational program “Cossack Village” and to learn more about the history, culture, traditions of the Don Cossacks – the hero of the world-known novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov.

The visitors of the exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” with interest learn about the versatile personality of the great Russian writer of the XX century, whose name is inseparably connected with the Don country. Over 400 memorial museum items exhibited left the House-Museum of the writer in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya for the first time.

In the museum yard the guests learn about the features of the old photo studios in the Don Army Region, have photos taken for memory wearing Cossack costumes and just here receive the picture in the vignette styled of the last century.

Football fans from Brazil, Switzerland and Argentina went to the “Cossack Ball”, and to old folk songs they learned to dance polka, krakowiak, padespan, and “narechenku”.

Concerts of the well-known ensembles “Volnitsa”, “Legenda”, “Pravoslavny Don”, workshops of the Don arts and crafts, tasting traditional dishes of the Don cuisine and culinary lessons on preparing homemade noodles – all these produce bright emotions in the guests of the world championship.
