News“Alloy of Courage and Metal”08.06.2018During May – June, 2018, interactive classes “The Battle of Kursk: Alloy of Courage and Metal” based on the exhibition materials from the collections of the Belgorod State Historical Artistic Museum-Diorama “The Battle of Kursk. Belgorod Destination” took place in the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The classes were joined by the children of the “Young Archaeologist” club, students of the secondary school of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and schoolchildren relaxing in wellness areas of the Sholokhov District. The children were brightly impressed by the exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Kursk Battle and liberation of Belgorod. He children learned about the legendary page of the Great Patriotic War – the tank battle which broke out near Prokhorovka Station in June 1943. It became acrucial turn during the war and a milestone on the way to our final victory. At the exhibition the children learned about small arms and cold steel,equipment and uniforms of the warring parties, saw battle awards of the Red Army soldiers, banners of the units taking part in the battle of Kursk and liberating the city. They were shown a historical documentary “The Battle of Kursk”. In the interactive class the children imagined themselves in the role of the Red Army soldiers and plunged into the events of the great past. One of the tests for them was a “young fighter’s course”, where they went through marching, packed a soldier’s knapsack, identified the types of combat weapons, learned to render first aid to a wounded fighter, deciphered the reports from headquarters,made models of military equipment – tanks and airplanes. The young fighters performed all the tasks with dignity, showed their sharpness and the well-coordinated work of each department. In conclusion of the lesson they answered the questions of the quiz “The Great Kursk Bulge”.
