A New Issue of the Journal “Mir Sholokhova”

08.06.2018

The new issue of the national scientific educational journal “Mir Sholokhova” No 1 (9), 2018, goes a lot about the publications devoted to the important event in Sholokhov studies – the scientific edition of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov. It was published by the researchers of the World Literature Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The impressions and evaluations of the great work were reflected in the works by Bogdan Kosanovich from the Republic of Serbia (“Long-Awaited Edition”), by the Chinese researcher Lyu Yadin (“The Scientific Edition of “And Quiet Flows the Don” Reveals Secrets of the Great Novel”), by Andrey Vorontsov (“The Restored “And Quiet Flows the Don”), by Natalya Velikanova (“Scientific Edition of the Novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov: the Lost Meanings Recovery”), and others.

As well, the readers will be attracted by the articles on the topics of the most voluminous section of the journal – “Literary Criticism”. Yevgeniy Kostin, Doctor of Philological Sciences, publishes his thoughts on the subject “Pushkin and the Identity of the Russian Culture”. As usual, the author has carefully studied the philosophical aspect of the problem.

The section “Classics of Sholokhov Studies” offers the readers the work by the well-known linguist Boris Larin “The Story “The Fate of a Man” by M.A.Sholokhov (the experience of the form analysis)”.

In this issue there is an article of the senior researcher Lidiya Slyusarenko from the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve “M.A.Sholokhov in Denmark. On the History of the Writer’s Relations with the Gyuldendal Publisher” and a set of readers’ letters to M.A.Sholokhov during 1945–1949, from the writer’s family archives (introductory article and comments by Lyudmila Razogreyeva, general researcher).

The issue is ended with the essay by Grigory Rychnev, a writer from Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, telling about an unexpected meeting of M.A.Sholokhov and I.A.Kaleganov, who secretly erected in the 1980s, a monument to Kharlampiy Yermakov, the main prototype of Grigory Melekhov.

The materials of all the 10 sections of the journal are interesting. The introductory article “It Has a Soul…” is written by the well-known writer and literary scholar Valentin Kurbatov.
