NewsExhibition “The Roads of Sholokhov’s Heroes”04.06.2018On May 31, 2018, the Farmstead of T.A.Karghin opened an exhibition “The Roads of Sholokhov’s Heroes” of the works by artist Alexey Bogdanov. The pictures by A.Bogdanov will show the native cretaceous and sandy banks of the River Don, a boundless steppe, floodplain meadows, birch and alder groves. Very colourful are the Upper Don villages of Gorokhovsky and Kolundayevsky, stanitsas of Yelanskaya and Karghinskaya: huge willows, old kurens (Cossack houses) bogged down in thick bushes and grass, – all these keep in their pristine appearance the memories of the past. For a more vivid emotional perception the exhibition is supplemented with ethnographic objects from the collections of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The theme of Cossacks is dear to A.P.Bogdanov. His forefathers were Cossacks, who long before the revolution moved to Kyrgyzstan, had a good husbandry, were dispossessed. A.P.Bogdanov was born in 1953, in Frunze, graduated from the art school. In 1984 he became the member of the USSR Union of Artists and Designers, worked over the projects for decoration of museums, festivals, park areas. After the collapse of the USSR, A.Bogdanov moved to Germany; he is the member of the Union of Artists of Germany. A trip to the Don country in 1995, on a visit to his brother living in Kolundayevsky Village, the charm of its nature, his interest in the Cossack history and the work of M.A.Sholokhov inspired him for creating a series of works, which are now shown at the exhibition “The Roads of Sholokhov’s Heroes”. This is not the first cooperation with the artist. In 2010, the exhibition “The Road of Sholokhov’s Heroes” had a successful run in the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and in the Salsk Museum named after the national artist V.K.Nechitailo. In 2015, the People’s House showed an exhibition of graphic works “Landscape in the Novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov. On the opening day, May 31, the exhibition was visited by V.Y.Golubev, Head of the Rostov Region Administration, and A.M.Sholokhov, Deputy of the RF State Duma, during their business trip around the cultural sites in the Kashary and Bokovsky districts.
