We Study, Surprise and Create!

29.05.2018

One of the bright pages of the All-Russian literary folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring”, as in the previous years, was the performance of talented children. The young performers from different parts of the Don country, Moscow and Volgograd opened the festival program called “We Study, Surprise and Create!”

This was the 17th children holiday, which entertained the guests with a variety of games and fun, and surprised them with its range. On May 25, in the centre of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya there began a concert “Vyoshenskiye Vesnushki”, and in Stanitsa Karghinskaya, in two concert areas, the “Children Sholokhov Spring” was celebrated.

The visitors enjoyed the various program of “Vyoshenskiye Vesnushki” which included the performance of children’s different folk groups.

The informative program “Old Mill Workshop” in Stanitsa Karghinskaya gathered young technicians, performers and musicians of the Rostov Region, Moscow and Volgograd in one of the sites of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov – the farmstead of T.A.Karghin.

The exhibition of technical achievements demonstrated unique models of land, water and air vehicles made by young craftsmen of the Rostov Centre of Children’s Technical Achievements. Both children and adults enjoyed the demonstration of the radio-controlled models: "Buggy" cars tirelessly drove around the improvised circuit, an android robot Mekanoid amused the spectators with its humanlike movements and answers to simple questions, and miniature boats glided along the Chir River surface and over them, gliders with a meter span wings flew. Hundreds of attentive eyes watched the toy seaplane sailing in the sky and confidently diving on the water causing a burst of applause.

At the workshops the teachers of the Rostov Centre of Children’s Technical Achievements discovered the secrets of robots assembly and programming, technical modeling and design, taught the children to make toys, a collage and an aquarium.

The cinematograph “Ideal”, where 100 years ago young Misha Sholokhov acted in the drama club, showed a performance “How Wolf Acted Mum” of the folk puppet theatre “Teremok” from Zimovniki Village. The actors masterfully

manipulating the marionettes and tall puppets told about unusual adventures of the hapless predator.

Young musicians, singers and dancers entertained the guests with their performances at the stage area by the mill that was depicted by M.A.Sholokhov in his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.

The musical program continued in the centre of Stanitsa Karghinskaya with a gala concert of thirty ensembles that performed their songs, dances, scenes and musical pieces. The audience applauded to the young actors from many parts of Russia. There were performances of little Cossacks who showed their skills of wielding sabre and whip.

In the literary area the winners of the literary contest “Our Sholokhov” performed the fragments of the works by the great master of the word. Young artists and masters of arts and crafts showed their works at the exhibition “The World of Sholokhov through the Eyes of Children”.

The teachers gave master-classes and workshops for the children. The active children liked “Environmental Marathon” and “Fun of the Don Little Cossacks”– throwing a knife and archery.

At the end of the concert a lot of colourful balloons flew into the sky of May over the square of Stanitsa Karghinskaya to complete that wonderful bright day.
