Exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer” is Opened in Abramtsevo

25.05.2018

On May 24, 2018, the Museum-Reserve “Abramtsevo” opened the exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer”, an intermuseum exhibition project of the Association of Russian Literary Museums.

At the opening ceremony the guests were welcomed by the director of the Museum-Reserve “Abramtsevo” Yelena Konstantinovna Voronina and the deputy director for exhibition work of the State V.I.Dal Museum of History of Russian Literature Natalya Vasilyevna Papanova. Yelena Nikolayevna Mitrofanova, deputy director for research work of the Museum-Reserve “Abramtsevo”, underlined the importance of the work of the Russian Association of Literary Museums in holding intermuseum exhibition projects. Yury Pavlovich Khmelevsky, a sculptor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, shared his impressions of the exhibition.

The first visitors were shown a concert including the romances by composer Vera Tinyakova, the laureate and winner of the All-Russian P.Bulakhov Contest of musical compositions, based on the poetry of I.S.Turgenev and A.S.Pushkin, performed by Anastasiya Dyachkova (soprano), the winner of the romance contest of 2017.

The travelling exhibition curated by the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve has already been shown to the visitors of the State L.N.Tolstoy Museum in Moscow and within the year will be presented in several other museums of Russia – the A.S.Pushkin Museum-Reserve “Bolshiye Vyazemy”, the All-Russian A.S.Pushkin Museum and Literary Memorial F.M.Dostoyevsky Museum in Saint-Petersburg, the Museum-Reserve of A.S.Pushkin “Mikhailovskoye” to finish its run in the museum of A.M.Gorky in Nizhny Novgorod.

In the writer’s house the study always occupied a special place. It was a writing workshop, where literary works were created; here the author spent long hours reflecting on the fates of his heroes, on the past, present and future of his Country, on the correctness of the path chosen by him. Most often the interior of the study was not random. Each writer brought here something from his work, from his world, where he lived and worked. The things in the study can suggest what the owner was preoccupied with in a certain period and can show his intellectual interests.

The library, an integral part of the study, can suggest an idea of his literary preferences, the writing desk can tell about the temperament, hobbies, social circle and others.

In the photo pictures shown at the exhibition Karp Grigoryevich Pashinyan, the RF Honored Worker of Culture, member of the Union of Journalists and Union of Designers of Russia, tried through the interiors of the studies of the great Russian writers and poets to show their life, the atmosphere reigning in the house and favouring for their creative work and to catch the connection of the creator with the world around him.

The exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer” tells about the writers, who lived and worked in different time – during the XVIII –XX centuries – from G.R.Derzhavin to M.A.Sholokhov. The exhibition will run until June 17, 2018, in the department of arts and crafts of the Museum-Reserve “Abramtsevo” (in: 23, Kooperativnaya Str.,Khotkovo).
