Exhibition “The World of Sholokhov” will Run in India

10.05.2018

The exhibition “The World of Sholokhov” devoted to the life and work of the great writer M.A.Sholokhov, who fervently supported the idea of establishing creative connections with foreign figures of literature and art, will open on May 2018, in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Mumbai, India.

The exhibition will show photos telling about different events in the life of the writer, housewares of the Don Cossacks, the hero of Sholokhov’s works, his books published in many foreign languages. In India, the works by M.A.Sholokhov are translated into 10 languages: Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Guajarati, Malayalam, Telugu and Assam. The novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A. Sholokhov is published in eight languages of this country.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov presents the exhibition for the second time: in the past year it was seen by the residents of New Delhi and was of great interest for Indians, so it was decided to continue its run in the country.

Russia and India signed an agreement on cultural exchange program during 2017–2019, including museum and exhibition joint projects. Mr.Pankaj Saran, Ambassador of India to Russia, is sure that the activities held “will be warmly accepted in our countries and will be able to reflect in full all the depth of our relations”. And the exhibition held showed it to the full.

We hope the exhibition “The World of Sholokhov” opening on May 12, 2018, in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Mumbai will arouse interest in the residents and guests of India and will strengthen further cultural and friendly relations between our countries.
