NewsExhibition “The Study and World of the Writer”04.04.2018On April 17, 2018, a photo exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer”, an intermuseum exhibition project under the auspices of the Literary Museums Association of the Museum Union of Russia will start running in “Tolstoy-Centre in Pyatnitskaya-12” of the State L.N.Tolstoy Museum. The project curator is the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. In the writer’s house a study always occupied a special place. It was his workshop, where literary works were created, there the author spent many hours reflecting on the fates of his personages, on the past, present and future of his Motherland, on the correctness of the way he had chosen. Most often, the furnishings of the study were not accidental. Each writer added something from his work, from the world, where he lived and created. The objects in the study can suggest what occupied its owner and can show his intellectual interests. An integral part of the study is a library, which can give an idea of literary preferences, can help to some extent understand the nature of the writer's character, to reveal his personality more deeply. The writing desk, that can be said to occupy a central place, will tell about the writer’s temperament, hobbies and social circle. Karp Grigoryevich Pashinyan, the RF Honored Worker of Culture, member of the Union of Journalists and Union of Designers of Russia, a consultant photographer of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, in his photo pictures tried through the interiors of the studies to show their life, the atmosphere reigning in the house and favouring for their creative work. Another task was to catch the connection of the creator with the world around him, to find the finest correspondence between the images of literary creations and the landscapes of the places, the architectural appearance and the interior decoration of the house. The exhibition tells about the writers, who lived and worked in different times – during the XVIII –XX centuries – from G.R.Derzhavin to M.A.Sholokhov. The first stage of the project was joined by 13 literary museums representing 20 writers’ studies. The second stage of the project was joined by 9 more museums. The exhibition will run in “Tolstoy-Centre in Pyatnitskaya-12” until May 20, 2018. The project participants:
