Exhibition “Kursk Great Bulge” (The 75th Anniversary of the Kursk Battle)

On March 30, 2018, the excursion and exhibition centre People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov opens an exhibition “Kursk Great Battle” from the Belgorod State Historical Artistic Museum-Diorama “Kursk Battle. Belgorod Destination”.

75 years ago, in the open spaces of the Belgorod steppes, the Kharkov and Sumy regions, a decisive battle of the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War took place to result in the catastrophe of the imminent defeat of Nazi Germany.

The Kursk Battle included the Kursk strategic defensive operation (during July 5–23), the Orlov (during July 12 – August 18) and the Belgorod-Kharkov (during August 3 – 23) strategic offensive operations. The materials of the exhibition tell about the fighting in the Belgorod direction of the Kursk Bulge, stress the historical role of the Kursk battle in the war and show a mass heroism and fortitude of the Red Army soldiers.

The exhibition shows the banners of the armies fighting in the Kursk Bulge and liberating Belgorod, rifle and silent weapons, photos, documents, fighting awards of the Red Army soldiers and commanders, uniforms and equipment of the warring parties.

We welcome the residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya to the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Kursk Great Bulge” on March 30, 2018, at 14.00.

The exhibition runs during March 30 – June 12, 2018, from 9.00 to 16.00, in People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov: 66 Podtyolkov Street, Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. Day off – Monday.
