A Special Care for Special Visitors

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in the training seminar “The Ways to Interact with Limited Health (LH) Children. Features of Organization, Management and Forms of Work with LH Children” which took place during March 5–7, 2018, in the consulting and training centre “Svet Mayaka”, Rostov-on-Don.

The talk was about the subjects important for those working with the museum visitors: “The Features of the Artistic and Creative Activity Development of LH Children”, “The Forms of Work and Peculiarities of Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in Cultural Education and Development”, “The Features of Creative Workshops for LH Children”, “The Features of Horse Riding. Adaptive Riding”, “Special Features of Working with Hyperactive and ASD Children. Coming into Contact”, “Specificity of Working with Ill-Speaking and Non-Speaking LH children”.

The talks were made by S.S.Brikunova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, a docent of the Academy of Psychology and Pedagogics of the South Federal University, a teacher of drawing; I.V.Murina, a clinical psychologist; I.V.Soboleva, Candidate of Biological Sciences, a senior researcher of the South Federal University; S.A.Yashchenko, a child and family integrative psychologist; T.V.Budenaya, a speech therapist, specialist of the highest qualification category, diagnostician.

The artist Vadim Murin shared his experience in organization of a creative laboratory for ASD children, his colleague Oksana Zavadskaya told about holding classes for the groups of children with psychophysiological characteristics, Elvira Kholodova, a clinical psychologist, told about the methods of prevention of emotional burnout of specialists working with LH children.

The information received at the seminar will be useful in developing adapted excursions, classes and workshops at the exhibitions and sites of the Museum: the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov, Kruzhilin and Karghin memorial complexes, Children Museum Centre, People’s House, Sholokhov-Centre, Museum Stables and Pottery Workshop.

The first steps to create an inclusive environment in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov have already been made, and the opportunities for the most comfortable, useful and interesting visits are planned to be expanded.
