Sholokhov Entered the List of Popular Compatriots
26.01.2018According to the results of the initiative all-Russian survey “All-Russian Centre for the Study of Public Opinion – Sputnik”, which was conducted among Russians during January 19–20, 2018, the writer Mikhail Sholokhov was said to be one of the best-known compatriots of the XX century. “The people’s rating” is topped by the first cosmonaut of the Earth Yury Gagarin, who was favoured by 44% of the pollees, a poet and actor Vladimir Vysotsky (28%) and Marshal Zhukov (27%). Among the writers favoured by the survey participants are: Alexander Solzhenitsyn (14%), Leo Tolstoy (13%), Mikhail Sholokhov (10%), Mikhail Bulgakov (9%), Anton Chekhov (9%), Iosif Brodsky (5%).
A comparison to the earlier survey results shows a growing interest in the work of M.A.Sholokhov: in 1999, Sholokhov was favoured for 7% of the pollees and in 2010 – 9%.
