Anniversary of Mariya Mikhailovna Sholokhova

On January 3, Mariya Mikhailovna Sholokhova, the writer’s younger daughter, has her anniversary birthday. The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov cordially congratulates her and wishes good health and long time to live.

Mariya Mikhailovna is a philologist, she graduated from the Moscow State M.V.Lomonosov University, worked as editor in the department of prose of “Sovremennik” publisher and edited the works of her father: collected works in 8 volumes published in 1980, in Moscow, in “Pravda” publisher, and the last intravital collected works in 8 volumes (Moscow, “Khudozhestvennaya Literatura” publisher, 1985–1986).

Mariya Mikhailovna, as well as other members of the writer’s family, assisted in the start of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve foundation. She is not only a professional, but also a good adviser and helper for the museum workers. Thanks to the detailed and verified consultations of M.M.Sholokhova the museum workers got a unique opportunity of making a thorough preparation of the exhibition, arranging memorial things in the house and learning the details of everyday life of the writer’s family. For several years M.M.Sholokhova had been working as researcher of the Museum-Reserve making her contribution in the formation and development of the Museum, in promotion of the life and work of the great Russian writer.

Under the assistance of M.M.Sholokhova the museum collection is constantly replenished with new museum objects and fragments of the family archives. She willingly shares her memories about her father, traditions of the Sholokhovs’ family, about the atmosphere reigning in the house, about their hobbies and customs. The mass media often published the interviews of Mariya Mikhailovna. Her memories about her family, relatives and friends are permeated with unique Sholokhov’s humour.
