Holiday Activities of Children

A cycle of holiday activities “New Year with the Sholokhovs Family” specially developed by the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve was a good New Year present for primary school students and kindergarten children.
In a real Cossack kuren, where the Children Museum Centre is situated, the children plunged into a festive New Year atmosphere. The boys and girls learned about the decree of Tsar Peter I, about the history of New Year celebration in Rus, admired the New Year tree toys of the 1930–50s and copies of the New Year postcards of the Sholokhovs. From the family memoirs of the writer’s children, Mariya Mikhailovna and Svetlana Mikhailovna, and Tatyana Vasilyevna Tsokur, a folk of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the schoolchildren learned how New Year was celebrated in the Sholokhovs’ house together with the neighbours’ children invited.
At the end of the class the children made a souvenir – a ceramic New Year tree toy, and received a real one for the memory about the museum class.
