NewsNew Year Museum Classes for Children25.12.2017On the eve of the New Year holidays, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov holds traditional classes “New Year in the Sholokhovs Family” for primary students. In a real Cossack kuren (a house), where the Children Museum Centre is placed, boys and girls plunge into a festive atmosphere to the melodic sounds of a New Year's song. They learn how the New Year was celebrated in Rus, read the decree of Tsar Peter I ordering the first of January to be considered the start of the year. And there appeared the tradition to decorate the New Year tree and make fireworks. The children learn from the family memoirs of the writer’s daughters Svetlana and Mariya, about the New Year celebrations in the house of the writer in the 50s of the last century. With interest they observe Christmas-tree toys of that time and New Year's cards, which came on the holidays to the house of the Sholokhovs. Children were usually invited to the New Year holiday parties in the writer’s house. The children learn about it from Tatyana Vasilyevna Tsokur, a resident of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. For the memory of the Museum class the young visitors of the Museum receive a Christmas-tree toy and a clay souvenir made by them.
