Sholokhov’s Pre-War Library Book Analogues Joined the Museum Collection

18.12.2017

Within the Internet project “In Search for the Lost Library”, the Museum-Reserve continues replenishing the book collection with the book analogues of Sholokhov’s pre-war library. In December 2017, the collection received 5 copies of books of the early XX century.

The collection was joined with:

A.A.Delvig. Complete collection of poems. Edited and notes by B.Tomashevsky. Leningrad: Publishing house of writers in Leningrad, 1931. From the series “The Library of the Poet” (edited by M.Gorky);

I.V.Goethe. Suffering of the Young Werther. Translated by A.Eyges. Introductory article by G.Lukach. Moscow–Leningrad: “Academia” publisher, 1937;

E.G.Bagritsky. Omnibus volume. Moscow: “Sovetskaya Literatura” publisher, 1934;

Aristophanes. Comedies. Two volumes: I and II. Translation, introductory article and comments by A.Piotrovsky. Moscow–Leningrad, “Academia” publisher, 1934.

All the books, though very old, are in a good condition. Each copy is unique, such editions being rare. Their entry into the book collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov was another step to restore the pre-war library of M.A.Sholokhov with the help of the book lovers and bibliopoles.
