Environmental Conference in Volgodonsk
04.12.2017The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the II scientific and practical conference “Environmental Problems of the Eastern Area of the Rostov Region and Volgodonsk” dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia, which took place on November 30, 2017, in the Volgodonsk Environmental and Historical Museum.
The conference members were greeted by L.G. Tkachenko, Chairman of the Volgodonsk Town Duma and Head of Volgodonsk.
The forum considered the topical problems: environmental situation in the region; organization of a system for monitoring air pollution; influence of the environmental condition of the territory on the public health: the results of the environmental policy implementation of the Rostov Atomic Electric Power Station, and others.
The talk of T.Y.Turchin, Deputy Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov for Environment and Rational Land Use “Means and Resources of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in the Formation of Environmental Awareness of the Population” aroused interest of the conference members. The talk showed a detailed description of the Museum-Reserve environmental education experience covering the most part of the age categories of the population: preschool children, school students (junior, middle and senior school age) and university students.
The conference was ended with a tour about the exhibitions of the Volgodonsk Environmental and Historical Museum. The conference members learned about the history of the Don folk culture, arts and crafts, attended the exhibition “Orthodox Icon in the Don Country” and knew interesting facts from the history of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir.
