Meeting for the Memory of the First Museum Director

On November 28, 2017, at 15:00, the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House” will hold a meeting for the memory of Nikolay Alexandrovich Bulavin, the first director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

During 1970–1984, N.A.Bulavin worked as the First Secretary of the Vyoshensky District CPSU Committee. Under his leadership the district was one of the best in the Rostov Region.

After the death of M.A.Sholokhov, Bulavin was the author of the note “On the perpetuation of the memory of the writer M.A.Sholokhov” appealing to the First Secretary of the Rostov Region CPSU Committee. In it, he proposed to organize a state literary museum-reserve on the base of the house and estate of the writer. On September 10, 1984, according to the order of the RSFSR Ministry of Culture he took office of director for the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

Within the three years’ work, N.A.Bulavin opened the main memorial structures of the Museum.

The meeting will gather the Museum workers and residents of Vyoshenskaya, who worked with N.A.Bulavin. All who knew him personally, always cordially remember him, a charming, intelligent and strong-spirited person. In the memory of the Museum workers he remains an example of love for life, selfless service to the cause and sincere attention to people.
