Special Children Visit Sholokhov Museum

Within the action “Visiting Museum with the Family” on November 18, 2017, Sholokhov Museum was visited by the children with disabilities. The weekend program for more than 30 boys and girls of different age and their parents was organized by the Museum workers jointly with the specialists of the Centre for Psycho-Pedagogical Assistance to the Population of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The fine autumn day began with a tour to the Museum Stables, where the children learned about the traditions of the Don horse breeding as an important part of the Cossack life tenor. The boys and girls tried on Cossack caps and shawls, held a sword and a whip in their hands, tried to use a pot holder and a yoke. The young tourists saw different kinds of carriages – a Cossack cart, a sledge, a gun-carriage of the Civil War time, and had a ride in a pleasure carriage. The children liked to feed the horses with the presents brought by them – carrots and apples.

On leaving the Stables the children joined the interactive game “I Love My Little Horse”, where they made toy horses of bast, decorated a holiday arch of a horse harness, painted horses made of salt dough and created sand art pictures.

The children and adults thanked the Museum workers for their high spirit and the interesting day they spent.
