Improvement of the Structures of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov

The Museum Administration pays a great attention to restoration of the Museum structures and to improvement of its territories including “Farmstead of T.A.Karghin” in Stanitsa Karghinskaya the Bokovsky District.

This summer, a specialized organization LLC “Lotos” from Rostov-on-Don (General Director M.E.Primak) carried out the works on improving safety and comfort of movement around the cultural heritage site “Farmstead of T.A.Karghin”: there were arranged driveways, passages, paths and grounds, and surface water discharges were organized. The territory with a two-storey mill house and other seven objects surrounded by a common brick-and-metal fence now will be illuminated by lamps on brackets mounted on wooden supports. The fence perimeter is equipped with security lighting, and spotlights with halogen lamps are mounted. This expanded the Museum's capabilities in working with different age categories of visitors and the less mobile groups of the population not only in summer, but also in winter, in the dark time of day.

All the buildings of the “Farmstead of T.A.Karghin” of the early XX century, where the holiday “Karghin Fair on Intercession Days” is annually held, are an example of the art of masters for erecting buildings of brick made of local clay. The architects of “The Institute for Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments «Spetsproektrestavratsiya»” managed to preserve the historical appearance of the territory taking into account the rational use of the space within the metochion for museum purposes. Now exhibitions and an exposition of an industrial architecture constantly work here.
