NewsLiterary Salon in Sholokhov Centre02.11.2017A literary meeting “Visiting Chekhov” was held in the literary and musical salon in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov during the autumn school holidays, on November 1, 2017. It was joined by Rostov students of school No 109 and M.Speransky gymnasium of law No 9. The meeting was an award for the victory and active participation in the quiz of the cultural and educational project “Cultural Heritage”, which is realized by Sholokhov-Centre jointly with the Education Department of Rostov-on-Don. The webcast of the event enabled other project members to take part in the meeting. The specialists of Sholokhov-Centre and the actors of “Rostov Theatre of Poets” prepared a program for the students to learn more about the life and work of A.P.Chekhov, their great countryman. During the theatrical composition, Anton Pavlovich himself (acted by the actor of “Rostov Theatre of Poets”) talked with the sstudents and read his “new” short story “Horse’s Name”. The young viewers “got acquainted” with Chekhov’s relatives: his wife Olga Leonardovna, his sister Mariya Pavlovna, and his brother Alexander Pavlovich. Then they had tea, listened to the favourite romances of Anton Pavlovich and played lotto with him. The meeting ended with “acquaintance” with the writer’s contemporary and his close friend, a theatre director, K.S.Stanislavsky, who directed staging and performance of an excerpt from the most famous play “The Seagull” by A.P.Chekhov. The gymnasium and school students with great interest took part in the meeting, which enabled them of a deeper and detailed knowledge of life and work of the great writer: the origins of his talent, his literary work and charity, hobbies, friendly and literary relations.
