Big Circle of the Upper Don Cossacks was Held in the People’s House of Sholokhov Museum-Reserve

Big Circle of the Upper Don Cossack military society “Great Don Army” (Voisko Donskoye) took place on November 3, 2017, in the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House”. It was participated by the delegates from the Cossack yurts of the Upper Don district and the representatives of the Petropavlovsk and Voronezh yurts.

According to the tradition the work of the Circle was preceded by a church service. The ceremony of introducing the Cossack Banner was accompanied by the Don Cossack anthem.

The members of the Circle heard the report of the Upper Don ataman M.M.Aleinikov, who noted the active work of the Cossack squad on ensuring a public order and successful attracting young people to the ranks of Cossacks. A bright example of the work with the younger generation is summer field camps of Cossack youth that were held in Stanitsa Karghinskaya under the support of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The ataman thanked the clergymen for the joint social work on maintaining orphans and low-income families.

The reports of yurt atamans were also presented. The most active atamans were awarded honorary letters for their fidelity to traditions, and also in honour of the 27th anniversary of the revival of the Upper Don Cossack District.

The meeting approved the members of the Upper Don District representative delegation for participation in the 23d reporting Big Army Circle of the military Cossack society “Great Don Army”, which is going to be held in Novocherkassk on November 25, 2017.

The meeting was ended with approval of the coat of arms and the banner of the Upper Don Cossack district.
