The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov at the Environmental Conference

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in the work of the regional scientific and practical conference “Topical Trends of the Environmental Education of the Rostov Region” dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia. It was held on October 13, 2017, at the Taganrog A.P.Chekhov Institute, a branch of the Rostov State Economical University.

The conference was organized by the Department of Natural Sciences and Life Safety of the Taganrog A.P.Chekhov Institute and the Rostov Region Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. 109 applications were submitted for participation, which indicates a great interest in the theme of the conference.

The workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov made a talk “I’m Afraid Our Descendants won’t Forgive Us…” to tell about the contribution of M.A.Sholokhov into the environment protection. The words for the talk heading were taken from the writer’s speech at the XXIII CPSU Congress, where he raised important environmental problems.

The speakers noted that many readers’ letters to M.A.Sholokhov were about his speech at the Congress. The readers supported the writer’s position and gave their evidence of violations of the environmental legislation.

M.A.Sholokhov was very fond of nature. It was a part of his creative workshop and a favourite vacation spot. He brilliantly sang it in his works. The talk aroused a lot of interest of the conference members.
