19.10.2017

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in the scientific and practical conference “Golden Autumn”, which was held during October 16–17, 2017, in the State Memorial Historical, Artistic and Natural Museum-Reserve of Vasily Dmitriyevich Polenov, the famous Russian painter. It was dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the Big House foundation.

The conference members were greeted by Natalya Polenova, Director of the Museum, Natalya Gramolina, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, and Yelena Kashtanova, a methodologist of the Museum.

The theme of the conference «Three Centuries of One Museum. 37/101: “They Managed to Maintain Their Dignity”» evoked the memory about the people, whose lives were connected with the history of the Country and, in particular, with the events of 1937. One of the talks of the conference was made by Alexey Kochetov, senior researcher of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov «Usually They Come in: “Get Dressed, Come on…”», which told about the fates of the repressed Upper Don Cossacks in the 1930s.

An opening ceremony of a new artistic and literary museum project «”37/101”: Prologue”» took place during the conference.

The conference members were shown round the museum of V.D.Polenov, the Big House, Abbey, Admiralty, Fachwerk, the City of Masters, they visited the Church of the Holy Trinity in Byokhovo Village and the reconstructed school of V.D.Polenov in Strakhovo Village. It was originally built according to the project of the painter himself.
