Museum Classes Dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia

16.10.2017

A cycle of interactive museum classes dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia were held for schoolchildren in the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House” at the exhibition “I Can’t Live without Nature…” from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

During the class the children learned about the work of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov for environment protection, about the history of planting pine forests in the Sholokhov District and about rare species of animals and plants registered in the Rostov Region Red List of Threatened Species. With great interest the children watched a fragment of one of the first documentaries about the writer by the film director L.B.Mazrukho.

During the imaginary fishing the children named the species of fish found in the River Don at present, remembered proverbs about nature, and then they made funny spiders from waste material. At the end of the class each member received a jotting “Rules of Behaviour in the Wildlife”.

A careful attitude to the environment, to all the living things, an ability to appreciate and understand the nature of the native land was the main idea of the class.
