“Phytomarathon” in Kalinov Village School
11.10.2017The workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov held an entertaining “Phytomarathon” for junior and middle school students of Kalinov Village on October 10, 2017. The entertaining game was aimed at deepening knowledge in biodiversity of plants of the Don country.
The plant world is diverse and mysterious. There are nearly half a million kinds of herbs each having its own peculiarities, small mysteries and secrets. “Phytomarathon” discovers the world of nice wildflowers and teaches the children to see the beauty of the environment, to understand the benefits of plants, flowers and herbs, and fosters a caring attitude to the nature.
The children enthusiastically spun the wheel of the marathon and guessed the names of the plants from the dropped pictures, matched them to the pictures on the playing field and shared their knowledge of the properties and “habits” of the herbs and flowers.
Such an unusual method of study botany, one of the most fascinating sciences, arouses interest in the children to all living things, teaches them a caring attitude to the nature and to its broad and very vulnerable world of plants.
