Unique Exhibition of Karghin Fair

A traditional Fair holiday in Karghin is not only entertaining, but also informative. This October 8, the guests will be shown very interesting exhibitions.

One of them is “Kerosene Lamps of the XIX–XX Centuries” will be shown at the Fair for the third time and it is always a great success. A lover of the antique, P.A.Soldatov from Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, demonstrates nearly a hundred different kerosene lamps, and every year he replenishes and diversifies his collection. Thus, during the last half-year he acquired over 10 old lamps including those made in France and Germany.

Each of his exhibits is in working condition and keeps intact the fragile individual flask.

Recently, P.A.Soldatov showed his collection in Voronezh, where he got lots of kind reviews. The residents of Voronezh were not only delighted with visiting his exhibition, but also enriched his collection with new exhibits.

The exhibition of kerosene lamps works in the house of the grain barn, and the exhibition “Bells of Russia” from the collection of G.V.Shatalov, a guest from Voronezh, will also be shown in that area. This is really a unique exhibition displaying 531 bells from 121 cities of Russia. The geography is vast, and what “ringing samples” are collected!

A considerable part of the exhibits was presented to the owner, others were bought in different regions of Russia. There are bells from Vyoshenskaya. The collection is shown on the Facebook, where it is named “Bell Collection Made with Friends”.

Not only metal, but also wooden, glass and ceramic bells will ring at the Fair. At the exhibition in Karghin you will learn about the purpose all these items were made for.

There is an interactive exhibition “The History of Distilling in the Upper Don Late in the XIX–early in the XX Centuries” (tasting included) organized for the first time. There will be shown the history of manufacturing local drinks. This will be interesting for the lovers of making such an original product according to old recipes. Besides, traditional Upper Don Cossack morsels will be offered there.
