NewsThe Rostov Region Joins the International Project “Bread of Peace”04.10.2017A ceremony of transferring grain grown in the Don region, Sholokhov country, to the organizers of the international action “Bread of Peace” will take place on October 8, during the holiday “Karghin Fair on Intercession Days” in Stanitsa Karghinskaya the Rostov Region. A bag of wheat will be handed in by Alexander Mikhailovich Sholokhov, Deputy Chairman of the RF State Duma Cultural Committee. The Rostov grain will be a part of a big round loaf of bread which will be baked on November 4, National Unity Day, of the grain harvested from the fields of the most regions of Russia and foreign countries. The organizers of the project “Bread of Peace” are going to treat the President of Russia V.V.Putin with the Bread. The idea of baking bread from the grain collected by the whole world – from the regions of Russia to foreign countries – was suggested by farmer A.P.Proshakov from the Volgograd Region. “Once I thought: how cool would that be to collect a handful of grain from each field of Russia and cook a real great round loaf of bread on any holiday date to celebrate bread growing, hospitality and unity”,– the author of the project tells. The first ears of wheat were harvested in Medvedev Village of the Volgograd Region by the local boys and girls from the field of Alexander Arkhipov, Hero of Socialist Labour, defender of Stalingrad. The project was enthusiastically supported in Russian regions, and very quickly the action primarily conceived as all-Russian spread outside our country. The wheat ears were brought from Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk, the grain was given by Turkey peasants, and the farmers from Israel, Georgia, Italy, France, Armenia and the USA also made their contribution into the international “Bread of Peace”. The project was supported by the figures of science and culture – Vladimir Vishnevsky, Mikhail Boyarsky, Georgy Vilinbakhov, Alexander Druz. The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve will also make its contribution into the “Bread of Peace” on the holiday “Karghin Fair on Intercession Days” on October 8. |
