Autumn Environmental Week

During October 9–13, 2017, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will hold autumn environmental week to include a number of environment protection events dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia (interactive games “Environmental Variety” and “Phytomarathon”, a relay race-quiz “Forest Tier”, a competition “Forest Decathlon”, a holiday “Arbor Day”, action “I Grow Together with You”).

On October 9, a visiting interactive game “Environmental Variety” will be held with the students of Ternovskaya school, the Sholokhov District. It will foster the environment awareness of the students.

The students of the Kalinovsky Village school will enrich their knowledge of biodiversity of the Don area plants during the “Phytomarathon” which will be held by the museum workers on October 10.

On October 11, the winners of the I Stage of the relay race-quiz “Forest Tier” from Novocherkassk, Krasny Sulin, and the young ecologists from the Rostov, Volgograd and Voronezh regions will show their knowledge in forestry, pedology, botany and zoology at the 7 competition areas.

On October 12, testing on the main forest disciplines will identify the most trained students to be awarded a privileged admission to college or to the forestry faculty of the Don State Agricultural University.

On the final day of the autumn environmental marathon, the students will acquire skills and habits in planting trees taking part in the Arbor Day holiday on October 13. And in the action “I Grow Together with You” the first-formers will plant small trees for the first time in their life.

Young ecologists from the Rostov, Volgograd and Voronezh regions jointly with the museum workers will plant over 400 seedlings of trees and bushes in the environmental and literary forest park “Pearl of Eurasia”.
