The Museum Environmental School Starts

The beginning of a new school year gives a start for the Museum environmental school. The first excursion class was held on September 26, 2017, in the form of a journey of the Sholokhov gymnasium first-formers of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya to the “Otrog” spring.

All they though being local residents some of the children visited this beautiful place for the first time. The museum class became informative for the children. They mentally immersed in the past and learned about Yefim Karghin, the owner of the water mill located there, about the traditions of water consecration. The children remembered what a spring is and talked about the importance of water in man’s life.

The schoolchildren learned that plumbing in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya was made on the initiative of the writer and countryman M.A.Sholokhov and compared the modern look of the Stanitsa to that described by Sholokhov in his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.

Especially interesting for the children was the task to find trees, bushes and herbs growing near the spring by the description and to solve riddles on the theme “Water”. The journey ended with an entertaining ecological game “Earth–Water–Air”.
