News“With a Rifle and a Lyre. Russian Literature and Hunting”18.08.2017The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov takes part in the all-Russian exhibition project “With a Rifle and a Lyre.Russian Literature and Hunting”, which starts on August 22, 2017, in the State A.S.Pushkin Museum. The exhibition areas “Under the Arches” (12/2, Prechistenka) will display the exhibits from the collections of 23 museums and archives of Russia. This great project was developed by the State A.S.Pushkin Museum and the State Literary Museum within the Association of Literary Museums of Russia. The exhibition brings together Russian writers and poets of three centuries, whose works, as well as their personal experience, most brightly embodied the theme of hunting. The exhibition covers the period from the XVIII to the XX centuries – from Alexander Sumarokov and Gavriil Derzhavin to Viktor Astafyev and Alexey Vampilov. A separate exhibition section is devoted to M.A.Sholokhov, who found the nature to be a kind of a creative workshop with his favourite leisure being hunting and fishing. For the exhibition the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov provided personal belongings of the writer – clothes he used for hunting ( a coat, trousers and boots), hunting gear, a bird decoy, capsules, accessories, a gun case, photos, rare books and journals about hunting, which were published early in the XX century, and other exhibits.
