Earlier, the travelling exhibition “The Don.Sholokhov.Russia” had a successful run in Belgorod, Taganrog, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tula, in the Public Chamber of Russia, in the showroom of the Don State Public Library. Now the Muscovites and guests of the city have got a unique opportunity to learn about the work of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and follow the life and work of the great Russian writer, the winner of the Nobel Prize and other Russian and foreign awards in literature, whose name is inseparable from the region he sang, from the great Quiet Don.

O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, greeted the visitors and hoped that the exhibition opening before the 870th anniversary of Moscow would become an important event in the cultural life of the city and would be interesting for the visitors of different generations, for everyone who is interested in the history and culture of Russia.

The exhibition tells about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, his public activity and meetings with the well-known people, and about the world significance of the writer’s spiritual heritage. The visitors will see unique exhibits: manuscripts of the novels “Virgin Soil Upturned” and “They Fought for Their Country”, the first editions of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, the writing-table M.A.Sholokhov worked at, the typewriter “Olympia”, books from the Sholokhovs’ library, personal belongings, hunting equipment and fishing tackle.

The exhibition shows the embodiment of Sholokhov’s works in art. There are film posters, materials telling about the last filming of the novel “The Quiet Don”

(the film director S.V.Ursulyak) and the costumes of the main characters of the film, which were presented to the Museum-Reserve by the film crew.

The visitors will see a big collection of photos, paintings and drawings by the well-known artists – B.Shcherbakov, O.Vereisky, Y.Rebrov, and others.
