“Sholokhov Readings-2017” Started in the Homeland of the Writer

In Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve started the work of the XIX International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Study in the Work of M.A.Sholokhov: Problems, Concepts, Approaches” (“Sholokhov Readings”) on September 6–8, 2017.

The conference is joined by Sholokhov scholars from Moscow, Ulyanovsk, Surgut, Belgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Serbia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine (the LPR).

 

The Main Subjects to be Discussed at the Conference: 

- New approaches to the study in the literary work of M.A.Sholokhov. 

- Modern interpretations of Sholokhov’s works and images. 

- Trends and prospects of the studies in the biography, literary and public work of M.A.Sholokhov. 

- The world recognition of the work of M.A.Sholokhov. 

- The study of the literary work of M.A.Sholokhov in the university and secondary school. 

- M.A.Sholokhov: foreign and domestic literary studies in the XX–XXI centuries. 

- Man in the era of the revolutions of 1917: the heritage of M.A.Sholokhov and historical destinies of Russia (for the 100th anniversary of the Great Russian Revolution of 1917). 

- The heritage of M.A.Sholokhov in the theatre, cinema and fine art.

 

The conference members laid flowers to the bust of M.A.Sholokhov at the River Don embankment and to his tomb.

The scientific community of Sholokhov scholars was greeted by A.M.Sholokhov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture of the RF State Duma.

The first day speakers of “Sholokhov Readings” were: N.V.Korniyenko, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor, Correspondent Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) (M.Gorky Institute of the World Literature of the RAS); Y.A.Dvoryashin, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor (M.Gorky Institute of the World Literature of the RAS); D.V.Pol, Doctor of Philological Sci, professor of the Moscow State Pedagogical University; E.A.Papkova, Candidate of

Philological Sci., docent (M.Gorky Institute of the World Literature of the RAS); Samir Kamal oglu Sattarov, head of the educational department of the Nizami Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences; N.A.Dvoryashina, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor (the State Surgut Pedagogical University); Bogdan Kasanovich, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor of the Novi Sad University (Serbia); T.O.Osipova, Candidate of Philological Sci. (the Southern Federal University); L.B.Savenkova, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor (the Southern Federal University); A.A.Dyrdin, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor (the Ulyanovsk State Technical University); the workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov: L.P.Razogreyeva, general researcher, A.M.Kochetov, senior researcher, and L.M.Slyusarenko, senior researcher. Every speech aroused enthusiastic discussion.

Within the work of “Sholokhov Readings”, I.G.Mineralova, Doctor of Philological Sci., professor of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, held a seminar “Project as a Form of Educational Work.”Sholokhov Encyclopedia” as a Source of Multifaceted Design Work in School Humanitarian Disciplines” in the Sholokhov Pedagogical College of Vyoshenskaya.

The first day ended with a visit to the Stables of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

The “Sholokhov Readings are going on: tomorrow another number of the talks will be presented. And on September 8, a “round table” will be held to discuss the problems of development and prospects of publication of the scientific and educational national journal “Mir Sholokhova” (the world of Sholokhov).
