NewsSholokhov Museum Joined the River Don Festival11.07.2017The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov for the first time took part in the River Don Festival which took place in Rostov-on-Don on July 9, 2017. The festivities began from the early morning and covered the area of the River Don embankment from Budyonnovsky Prospect to Gazetny Pereulok. The festival program included master-classes, contests, sport competitions, musical and dance performances. The main event of the festival was a competition on cooking fish soup. It was joined by eight districts of the Don capital. The area activity of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov was dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia: there was a photo exhibition “I Can’t Live without Nature…” showing pictures of M.A.Sholokhov at hunting and fishing outings, workshops on weaving wreaths and making mats of the Don flowers and herbs, painting on wooden spoons. At the photo exhibition “The Don Area Photography of the Early XX Century” the festival visitors saw the Don villages and towns, family photos and portraits made by photographers a hundred years ago, and could have their pictures taken in Cossack outfit and in the interior of the old-stylized photo studio. The tourists and residents of the southern capital were given information about the Museum structures and were offered tours around the Sholokhov country.
