Welcome to Sholokhov Country!
30.06.2017The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov keeps on showing you the sights of the Sholokhov country.
Each Internet user can take part in the project “Welcome to Sholokhov Country!” downloading for free the desktop pictures in your computer. You can select a proper size picture to your choice – with a current month calendar or without it.
Each month a new picture is presented. Now you see a picture of Lebyazhy Yar. Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov loved and admired the River Don and the vast Upper Don expanses from the 40-metres high Lebyazhy Yar, which is 12 km to the east of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. This is a majestic bend of the River Don bed and a sandy precipice above it, an abrupt steep bank. Beyond the river there are floodplain forests and White Hills, chalky slopes. Lebyazhy Yar was visited by lots of famous guests of the writer. In 2005, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, admired the quiet flow of the River Don when on a visit to Vyoshenskaya on the 100th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov.
