21.06.2017

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in “The Khopyor Dawns of Mikhail Sholokhov”, environmental and local history holiday which is traditionally held in Stanitsa Bukanovskaya the Volgograd Region.

At the opening ceremony T.G.Ponomaryova, Director of the Natural Park “Nizhnekhopyorsky”, read the greeting address to the organizers and guests of the festival from A.M.Sholokhov, the State Duma Deputy, and Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee for Culture of the Russian Federation. O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, greeted the organizers and guests, and wished further fruitful cooperation in the environmental and tourist work.

The holiday makers got interested in the exhibition “I Can’t Live without Nature…” organized by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia. The visitors saw well-known and rare photos of the writer at hunting and fishing outings, pictures of his favourite places of rest and natural sights of Sholokhov country, they could see a documentary “On the Quiet Don” about M.A.Sholokhov and the Upper Don natural sights. The film was made by the well-known Rostov documentary filmmaker L.B.Mazrukho.

In the centre of the stanitsa, at the “entertaining maidan” there was a Festival Fair with fascinating games and competitions. The folk groups from the Volgograd and Rostov regions   entertained the festival guests. Cossacks welcomed guests to their makeshift houses with songs and traditional Don Cossack dishes.

The holiday has become an important event bringing environmental culture, love for the folk songs and the art of Mikhail Sholokhov, and preserving Cossack traditions and careful attitude to the natural resources of the Khopyor country.
