NewsThe Collection of Works by M.A.Sholokhov is Replenished08.06.2017The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov purchased a number of editions of the novel “Virgin Soil Upturned” not found previously in the Museum collection. The books are notable for the fact that most of them were published during the lifetime of the writer (1967, 1974, 1979, 1980). The geography of publication places is diverse – Leningrad, Khabarovsk, Minsk, and others. Of special interest are illustrated editions. For example, the one-volume book published in 1974, by the Leningrad publisher (“Lenizdat”) in the series “Youth Library” is illustrated with graphic drawings by artist O.V.Titov. The novel “Virgin Soil Upturned” was issued in the regional, territorial and republican publishers in mass circulations. Among the new books added to the collection there is a novel edition of “Virgin Soil Upturned” by Khabarovsk book publishing house (1980) with drawings of the local artist, illustrator and graphic V.N.Antonov. The colourfully designed Byelorussian editions were published in Russian in the Minsk central publishing houses “Narodnaya Asveta” and “Polymya”. One of these editions (Polymya”, 1986) is a two-volume book of the series “Library of Domestic and Foreign Classics” was issued after the writer’s death.
