The Birthday of M.A.Sholokhov was Celebrated in Rostov

On the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov in Rostov-on-Don, a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the writer at the River Don embankment and to his bust monument in Pushkin Street took place.

The teachers and students of the South Federal University, the office workers of the Don State Public Library and the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, representatives of the Rostov Region Department of the Writers’ Union of Russia, students of the universities, gymnasium and schools came to bend in a bow to the writer’s memory.

A holiday concert was organized near the monument to M.A.Sholokhov at the embankment: Rostov poets recited their poems devoted to the writer, a passage from the short story “The Foal” was performed by Danil Pukhnyuk, an actor of the children theatrical studio “Master-Class” of the Rostov M.Gorky Drama Theatre, the vocal ensembles “Ataman” and “Youth of the Don” made their performances.

The Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov showed a play “The Shame-Child” staged by the theatre “Klassika”.

A whole series of events dedicated to the 112th birthday of M.A.Sholokhov will take place in Rostov-on-Don. The Rostov M.Gorky Academic Drama Theatre will show on May 26, a play “The Quiet Don”, in the Gorky Park there will be held a festival “The Singing Don”, the library-information centres and libraries of the city will set out book exhibitions, literary hours and literary and musical salons “The Tulip Steppe”, meetings with writers – local scholars, and in the library named after M.A.Sholokhov there will be shown exhibitions devoted to the writer’s work and the Don country.
