“Sholokhov Spring-2017” Began with Children’s Holiday

26.05.2017

The holiday “Sholokhov Spring” held under the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation began traditionally with the program for children: in the morning, in the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the workers of the Rostov Museum of Local Studies held a series of classes devoted to the animal world of the Don country.

This is a fragment of a big project “Museum in the Museum” initiated some time before by the Museum workers of Vyoshenskaya as a regularly updatable show of temporary exhibitions of the museums-partners and activities for children at the exhibitions.

The theme was chosen due to the Year of Ecology in Russia, the 80th anniversary of the Rostov Region foundation and due to the fact that M.A.Sholokhov in his deputy work paid an ongoing attention to environment protection.

It was very interesting for the children to see stuffed birds, animals and fish from the unique collection of the Rostov Museum of Local Studies, listen to the guide’s telling about their behavior in wildlife and see specially selected video series. The young residents of Vyoshenskaya were surprisingly active and rather accurate in recognizing the recorded voices of birds inhabiting the Don area. The children learned a lot of new things.

The workers of the Rostov Regional Museum of Local Studies are sure that the Cossack traditions of love for the native land and wildlife laid down by our ancestors will be taken up by the new generation of the Don people.
