International Museum Day in Sholokhov Museum

17.05.2017

On May 18, International Museum Day, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov holds an Open Day and invites the visitors to attend the exhibitions in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, Stanitsa Karghinskaya, Kruzhilin Village and Rostov-on-Don. The entrance to all the Museum structures is free.

The Museum visitors will see permanent exhibitions telling about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, the significance of his spiritual heritage for the world literature and about the history, culture and traditions off the Don Cossacks.

On these days Sholokhov Museum shows temporary exhibitions as well. Sholokhov-Centre (Rostov-on-Don) presents an exhibition “Poetry is not Only in Verses…” from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of I.S.Turghenev “Spasskoye-Lutovinovo” showing the writer as a landscape master and an inveterate hunter.

The excursion and exhibition centre People’s House in Vyoshenskaya shows an exhibition “The Peoples of the Crimea” from the collection of the Crimean Ethnographical Museum (Simferopol). It displays unique exhibits: documents, photos, clothes, figgery, musical instruments, houseware and tools representing 30 peoples living in the Crimea. The unique artifacts will brightly impress the most exacting visitors.

Here, in the People’s House, there is an exhibition “I Can’t Live without Nature…” It is dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia and tells about a special workshop of Mikhail Sholokhov – the Upper Don scenic nooks, which inspired the writer. The exhibition presents memorial items from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov: the writer’s hunting accessories, fishing tackle and the documents telling about his contribution into preservation of the natural resources of our country.

The annual All-Russian campaign “Night of Museums” is dedicated to the International Museum Day. It will take place on May 20, under the support of the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. On that day, in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve in Rostov-on-Don, from 19.00 to 22.00 o’clock, an interesting program will be shown for the guests: exhibitions, demonstration of the films based on the works of M.A.Sholokhov, theatrical sketches, a concert, workshops and museum classes.

Congratulations to our colleagues – museum workers, and to all the museum visitors on the holiday of the International Museum Day! You are welcome to the Museum exhibitions in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, Stanitsa Karghinskaya, Kruzhilin Village and Rostov-on-Don!
