NewsThe Magic Colour of the Glorified Steppe02.05.2017The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in the VI Interregional Festival of Environmental Tourism “The Glorified Steppe” dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia. It was held on April 29, 2017, in the Orlovsky District of the Rostov Region. The festival was aimed at attracting attention of the residents of the region to the problem of vulnerability of the Don steppe flora and fauna, environmental tourism development and promotion of the natural sights of the River Manych Valley. The festival makers were greeted by V.Y.Golubev, the Rostov Region Governor, and G.A.Urban, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Rostov Region. The activity area of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov attracted schoolchildren, students, teachers, tourists and representatives of different management structures and noncommercial organizations of the Rostov Region and the neighbouring territories. The Museum presented old crafts and trades of the Upper Don Cossacks. The guests of the holiday could appreciate the work of the wood carving masters, the process of making pottery on a potter’s wheel, making grass mats and took part in the works. All the guests could enjoy aromatic tea of fragrant Don herbs. During the master-class “Painting on a Wooden Spoon” children and adults painted steppe tulips on wooden spoons. The theme of painting was not chosen by chance: April is the time of an unforgettable, but unfortunately, rather a short spectacle in the steppes of the Rostov Region – flowering of wild tulips. For the active participation in the work of the VI International Festival of Environmental Tourism “The Glorified Steppe” the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov is awarded the Diploma of the Rostov Region Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
