Siberian Cossacks will Join the Holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”

Early in May, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will be visited by the delegation of the Siberian Cossack Host of the Cossack Union of Russia to take part in the annual literary ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” (Cossack battle arts of Vyoshenskaya).

The guests will visit the writer’s homeland in Kruzhilin Village, in the stanitsas of Karghinskaya and Vyoshenskaya, where the Nobel Prize winner lived and worked, will visit the memorial places and sights of the Sholokhov country.

On the first day of their visit, an exhibition devoted to the Cossacks of Siberia displaying the history, traditions and culture of Siberian Cossacks and the stages of revival of the Cossack societies will be opened.

Thereafter a “round table” meeting will be held to discuss the prospects of the cultural cooperation development, a joint work on military, patriotic and civil upbringing of the younger generation, on training young people for the army service, on the support of the Cossack cadet movement on the territory of the Russian Federation. It will be followed by signing of cooperation agreements of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and the Centre for External Relations Development of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region, the Ob-Polar Cossack Society of the Siberian Army Cossack Society and the Ob-Polar Cossack Line of the Siberian Cossack Troops of the Union of Cossacks of Russia.

The delegation of the Siberian Cossacks will be guests of honour at the holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”. The Siberian Cossacks will see an artistic and ethnographic performance “Horse Racing at the Tsaryov Pond” based on the works by M.A.Sholokhov, will take part in Cossack pentathlon, competitions and master-classes.
