Spring Environmental Week in Sholokhov Museum

On April 24–28, 2017, a Spring Environmental Week dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia will take place in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

The Week includes a number of environmental educational holidays and events organized by the Museum jointly with the Sholokhov District Administration, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Rostov Region, the LLC “Gazprom Volgograd Transgaz”, the Rostov Department of the All-Russian Nature Conservation Society and the Non-Governmental Environmental V.Vernadsky Fund.

The events will be joined by young ecologists from the towns and districts of the Rostov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Yaroslavl, Moscow, Kursk, Samara and Saratov regions, the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, the Mari El Republic, Kalmykia, Tatarstan, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia and from Kazakhstan, the Lugansk People’s Republic, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The number of the participants planned is 120 people.

Each day of the Spring Environmental Week will be full of interesting and attractive activities.

April 24, is a Day of Environmental Education: the school students from the north of the Rostov Region will travel by the environmental itineraries “The Oak of Vyoshenskaya”, “Druids’ Path”, “Around Tatarsky Village”, “Secrets of the Don Mounds”, “Karghin Roads of Sholokhov Heroes” and the Rostov students will make virtual excursions “Unforgettable Places.Walks about Sholokhov Country” at the library meeting in Rostov-on-Don.

On April 25, during the All-Russian environmental subbotnik “Green Spring” children and adults will plant lilac “Mikhail Sholokhov” in the forest park “Pearl of Eurasia”.

On April 26, the members of the children and youth environmental movement “Sholokhov Source” will gather for the First Round of the XVIII Rally. The boys and girls will take part in the literary quiz, in the contest “Time to Gather Stones”, will do environmental tests and show their handicraft articles made of recyclables.

On April 27, the V International Children and Youth Scientific Conference “Sholokhov Geography: from the Origins to the Nobel Triumph” will be held on

the theme “The Environment Around Us”. The children will present their research and creative projects.

On April 28, there will be held a contest “Ecoorienteering” joined by the students from Andropovskaya school of the Sholokhov District. They will do ecological rebuses, crosswords, tests and determine their location on the terrain. Then they will take part in the subbotnik “Ecolanding” in Lebyazhy Village, where they will help to clean out one of the springs feeding the River Don.

The results of the Spring Environmental Week will show the contests winners and laureates who will further take part in the Second Round of the XVIII International Rally of the children and youth environmental movement “Sholokhov Source” in summer of 2017.
