Comprehensive Restoration of the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve begins a comprehensive restoration of the central structure – the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya (94, Podtyolkov Str.), where the writer lived and worked in 1949–1984.

The Estate is a memorial monument, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. It includes a memorial house, a wing, a shed with an icehouse, a garage and a separate cellar.

At first the work will be carried out on restoration of the wing and garage. After the restoration the wing will house exhibitions (“Kitchen” and “Library”) and an office space. The garage will resume the exhibition of cars belonging to M.A.Sholokhov in different years. These works begin a large-scale restoration of the whole ensemble of the Estate, where M.A.Sholokhov lived and worked in 1949–1984.

The project documentation has been approved in the Rostov Region Ministry of Culture. The restoration works will be carried out with the utmost care to preserve the structural elements of the buildings. The main task of the restorers is to preserve the historical-cultural value and the integrity of the cultural heritage structure.
