Sholokhov Museum Opens the Project “Theatre in the Museum”

31.03.2017

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov jointly with the Charitable Foundation “Revival of Faith” which includes a Comedy Theatre “Classics” opened a new project “Theatre in the Museum” on March 29, in Sholokhov-Centre.

The project is aimed at embodiment of the works by the great writers in theatrical productions to revive interest of the young people for classical literature. The repertoire will be interlinked with the exhibitions and exhibit projects demonstrated in Sholokhov-Centre. Particularly in 2017, there will be opened exhibitions devoted to the life and work of I.S.Turgenev, M.A.Sholokhov and A.P.Chekhov, and the visitors will see the performances based on the works of these classics.

The project is opened with the spectacle “The Queen of Spades” based on the title work by A.S.Pushkin. A game is one of the main motives of the tale. A card game, a game with feelings, love games – all these permeate the work both in the tale and in the performance with reality and fantasy intertwined.

The first to see the performance within the project “Theatre in the Museum” were schoolchildren and students from Shakhty, Volgodonsk, Rostov-on-Don and Chaltyr. The actor of the theatre “Classics” took the audience into the atmosphere of Pushkin’s time, made them empathize with the heroes and take a fresh look at the problem of gambling.

The next performance will be based on the motives of the works by I.S.Turgenev, and the exhibition opening on April 14, in Sholokhov-Centre will be devoted to his life and work.
