The Forest Area has been Enlarged by 5000 Seedlings

On the 21 of March, International Forest Day and Spring Equinox Day, planting of the Crimean Pine was carried out in the forest area “Pearl of Eurasia”. The event was joined by the pupils of the Sholokhov Centre of Assistance for the Children of Kalinin Village, schoolchildren from the Bokovsky and Sovetsky Districts of the Rostov Region, representatives of different institutions and organizations, guests of the Stanitsa and holidaymakers in the sanatorium “Vyoshensky”.

The children worked under the leadership of the adult assistants, increased their knowledge about forest, its importance for the planet environment and mastered the skills of planting trees and taking care of them. They planted the pine seedlings using a hand shovel and Kolesov Sword invented over 130 years ago specially for planting pines on the sands.

On that day, in the forest area, over 5000 Crimean Pine seedlings including 1000 seedlings with a closed root system for greater culture survivability were planted.

The planting was joined by P.I.Makushkin, Head of the interdistrict sector of the Department of Forestry Development of the Rostov Region Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, V.F.Belikov, Deputy Director of the Sholokhov District Company “Les”, A.V.Abakumov, Head of the Northern Department of the Regional State Environmental Control, A.S.Pekhtashev, Head of the Kalininsky Company “Gazprom Volgograd Transgaz”, and A.I.Lashchenov, a leading engineer of this company.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov for many years has been effectively working on the conservation of nature, environmental education and fostering love for the native land in the younger generation. By the end of 2016, the Museum-Reserve was awarded Honorary Diploma of the Rostov Region Government for its successful activity in this field.
