The Exhibition “The Fate of a Man is the Fate of the People” in the Kashari Museum

10.03.2017

On March 22, 2017, the exhibition “The Fate of a Man is the Fate of the People” dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the publication of the story by M.A.Sholokhov will open in Kashari the Rostov Region. It is a joint project of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and the Kashari Museum of History and Local Studies.

The visitors of the exhibition will learn about the history of the story “The Fate of a Man” and its embodiment in art. The exhibition will present the publication of the story in different years including those published in foreign languages from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, and the exhibits of the war time from the Kashari Museum telling about heroism of the Soviet soldiers defending our Country from the German fascist invaders.

The story was published in two issues of the newspaper “Pravda” – on December 31, 1956, and January 1, 1957. And shortly after that a lot of letters started coming from all parts of the Soviet Union to the newspaper, to the Union of Writers and to Sholokhov in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The readers perceived the book as a speech in defence of former prisoners of war. Many of these letters will be shown at the exhibition.

The exhibition will run from March 22 to April 20, 2017, in the House of Culture.
