Sholokhov Museum Shows Exhibition in Belgorod

06.02.2017

On February 17, 2017, the Belgorod State Historical Art Museum-Diorama “The Battle of Kursk. Belgorod Direction” will hold an opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Fate of a Man is the Fate of the People” from the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

This has been the second exhibition telling the residents and guests of the Belgorod Region about the work of M.A.Sholokhov. The exhibition will show photos, archival documents, the writer’s personal belongings, books of the story “The Fate of a Man” in foreign languages.

The story has become worldwide famous and caused an unusually large number of responses, which came to the newspaper “Pravda” and to the residence of Mikhail Alexandrovich. Many of them will be shown at the exhibition.

The visitors will be attracted by the little-known short film “Pages of the Story” (Mosfilm, 1957) made by the film directors B.Kryzhanovsky and M.Tereshchenko, where S.Bondarchuk reads the story by M.Sholokhov from the stage. The reading is illustrated with the military newsreel and feature film episodes, where the role of Andrey Sokolov is played by S.Bondarchuk himself.

The story was mostly boosted by the talented film “The Fate of a Man” made by S.Bondarchuk at the Mosfilm Studio in 1959. It will be shown at the exhibition.

The exhibition will display the works by the well-known illustrators of the works by M.A.Sholokhov– Kukryniksy, Yury Rebrov, Valentina Petrova, Leonid Petrov and others.

The exhibition will run in Belgorod from February 17, till May 14, 2017.
