Christmas Gathering in Kruzhilin

On Christmas Eve, the Kruzhilin Memorial and Historical structure of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov held classes for primary schoolchildren about Christmas young people’s gathering traditional in the Upper Don.

In old times, gatherings were joyful moments of communication, as during the long Christmas fast meetings and festivities were not held.

The Museum teachers told about the rites carried out during Christmas holidays in the Don country. Children sang merry carols, recited Christmas poems, guessed riddles and took part in humorous staging and competitions. The gathering ended in a tea party with sweets.

Such meetings help the children learn about the Don Cossack traditions, join the national cultural heritage and establish a connection between the past and the present.
