Exhibition of New Year Postcards is Over

The visitors took a great interest in the exhibition “Cordial New Year Greetings!..” which showed New Year postcards of the 1950–1980s from the archives of the Sholokhovs’ family.

Greetings to M.A.Sholokhov came from all parts of Russia and abroad. The visitors saw greeting cards from S.M.Sholokhova, the writer’s daughter, his grandson Sasha, his friends I.S.Pogorelov and N.F.Korsunov, from film director S.Bondarchuk and actress I.Skobtseva, from D.D.Lelyushenko, Army General, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, from different publishers and journals “Oktyabr”, “Ogonyok”, “Krasnaya Zvezda” and from the Maly Theatre.

Of special interest were the New Year greetings written by Mikhail Alexandrovich himself.

A series of classes on the theme of the exhibition were held for school students to tell about the history of the New Year card and to send from them Soviet greeting postcards with kind wishes to their relatives and friends from the writer’s house.

On the New Year days 85 postcards were sent from the house of M.A.Sholokhov.
