NewsNew Year Activities in the Children Museum Centre13.01.2017An exciting activity “New Year in the Sholokhovs Family” taking place before the New Year holiday in the Children Museum Centre is very popular with children. The boys and girls make a real journey into the past to learn about the Tsar’s Decree on celebration of the New Year in Rus and about the holiday traditions in old times seeing New Year tree decorations of the 1930–1950s. The traditions of the New Year celebration in the Sholokhovs family are told about in the recorded memories by the writer’s children – Mariya Mikhailovna and Svetlana Mikhailovna, and T.V.Tsokur, a resident of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and their neighbour. The children learn how the New Year holiday in the writer’s house was prepared for their and guest children, what New Year greeting cards were sent to M.A.Sholokhov from different parts of the country and what the writer wished to his relatives and friends on the New Year eve. During the practical part of the class the children make a clay souvenir “New Year Toy”, which they take as a souvenir about their interesting meeting in the Children Museum Centre.
